Why do we collect information?
Children of Adam takes a proactive approach to user privacy and ensures that adequate steps are taken to protect the privacy of its users. Information collected is used to:

- Monitor how the site is used in so that we can continually improve it.

We may collect information about you whenever you interact with us. For example, when you contact Children of Adam regarding our activities, sign up as volunteer you specifically and knowingly provide us with your personal information.

For example, in order to ensure that our communication with you is relevant and tailored to your background and interests, we may collect information about you from publicly-available sources either directly or through third-party subscription services or service providers. What information do we collect?
When you contact us through other means or use our website, we may collect some or all of this information, depending on how you contact us or use the site. We monitor how people use our website, so we can improve it. However, you can use our website anonymously without giving us any information. We collect this information anonymously.

We may collect aggregated or anonymous information when you visit our website or interact with our content. For example, we may collect information about the services you use and how you use them, like when you watch a video on YouTube, visit our website or view and interact with our ads and content. How will we disclose the information we have collected to outside parties?
We may need to disclose your information if required to do so by law, a regulator or in the course of legal proceedings.
How long will we hold your personal information?
We will hold your personal information on our systems for as long as is necessary for the relevant activity or as long as is set out in any relevant agreement you enter into with the Children of Adam.
How do we protect your personal information?
We take appropriate physical, electronic and managerial measures to ensure that we keep your information secure, accurate and up to date, and that we only keep it as long as it is reasonable and necessary.
Although we use appropriate security measures once we have received your personal information, the transmission of information over the internet is never completely secure. We do our best to protect personal information, but we cannot guarantee the security of information transmitted to our website, so any transmission is at the user’s own risk.
For financial and technical reasons, we may, on occasion, need to use the services of a service provider outside the European Economic Area (EEA) – this may include a country which does not have the same level of data protection as in the United Kingdom. We use third parties to support us in providing our services and to help provide, run and manage our internal IT systems. For example, providers of information technology, cloud-based software as a service providers, identity management, website hosting and management, data analysis, data back-up, security and storage services. The servers powering and facilitating that cloud infrastructure are located in secure data centres around the world, and personal data may be stored in any one of them.
Law enforcement or other government and regulatory agencies or to other third parties as required by, and in accordance with, applicable law or regulation
Occasionally, we may receive requests from third parties with authority to obtain disclosure of personal data, such as to check that we are complying with applicable law and regulation, to investigate an alleged crime, to establish, exercise or defend legal rights. We will only fulfil requests for personal data where we are permitted to do so in accordance with applicable law or regulation.

We cannot be held responsible for the privacy of data collected by websites not owned or managed by Children of Adam, including those linked through our website.
What other Data Protection rights do you have?
You can make a complaint or raise a concern about how we process your personal data by contacting our Digital Officer. In some circumstances, you have the right to object to our processing of your personal data or to stop us from continuing to make active use of personal data that we retain in our records. If you are not happy with how we have handled your complaint, you can contact the Office of the Information Commissioner, which oversees the protection of personal data in the UK.
Alternatively, you may choose to contact the Information Commissioner directly about your complaint, regardless of whether you have raised it with us first. You also are entitled to request a copy of the personal information relating to you which is kept on file by Children of Adam (for which we may charge a small fee) by contacting our Digital Officer.
